What’s special about this listing
Original owner. 26,577 miles. Yes, you read that right - a travesty, I know! Bought this as a weekend car and haven't driven it very often over the last 15 years. But, oh boy, is it fun! We drove it across the country and on several long road trips, most notably on the Road to the Sun at Glacier National Park. Would love to keep this low-slung pocket rocket, but we need a 4-passenger sedan. It has always lived indoors when not on the road.
When the E89 was introduced in 2009, they sent one of this spec to each dealer to have on the floor. They produced 600-800 Of this spec. Not a lot of frills on this one. I saw it a fell in love. It was the only thing that could have torn me away from my Z3! I purchased this car in Montgomery, Alabama on March, 20, 2010. I am hoping this beauty will go to a good home who will drive it like it deserves to be driven.
They only made the sDrive30i with the
3.0L NA N52 for 2-3 years. (2009-2011) And it wasn't a very popular spec at the time - most people either got the much cheaper 2.0L version or if they did wanna spend more they probably went ahead and got the fancy new DCT which was only available on the faster 35i with the 6cyl twin turbos. Of the limited people that did get the 30i with the 3.0L NA N52 ~90% were taken with the Sport Automatic. So the Manual adds another layer of rarity.
This is also one of the last cars BMW made to have a naturally aspirated engine (the N52). If someone wants a BMW roadster with a 6 cylinder NA engine - this is it, the last of its kind.
Rarity/collectability aside the N52 variant is desirable because it's more reliable, easier to wrench on and much lighter in the front when compared to the turbo variants. This Z4 will probably take longer to sell because only people who know will pay the premium. But I don't think it's fair to compare this to just any other E89. The lower miles doesn't hurt either.
We just had the oil changed at the dealership - they did the 24 point inspection which I am happy to share. They recommended replacing the TPMS sensors, but it appears this was a batter depletion issue. They recommended a new battery, which we just installed. The vehicle is "due" for brake fluid service on time, but not on miles or fluid condition, so we did not replace it. They recommended a battery maintainer, which we would get if we were keeping the car, and would recommend if this vehicle won't be driven very often.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport AS4s installed on 9/13/21 - mileage was 20,174, so they have a little over 6,000 miles on them.
Note - this is a 6-speed Manual transmission.
We have the window sticker, all service records, owners manual, and both keys. Please let me know if you have further questions.
