The 997.2 generation is widely considered by enthusiasts to be the "sweet spot" of the modern 911 era. It features hydraulic power steering, which provides raw, mechanical feedback through the wheel that was lost when Porsche switched to electric steering in the subsequent 991 generation. It includes a traditional mechanical handbrake cable instead of an electronic button. In my opinion this was the best year of the 911.

The desirable 2009 model year introduced the all-new 3.8L MA1/9A1 flat-six engine, which completely redesigned the internal architecture of the motor. No IMS Bearing meaning this engine entirely eliminated the infamous Intermediate Shaft (IMS) bearing found in older 911s (996 and 997.1), removing the risk of catastrophic engine failure. Also in 2009, Porsche debuted their revolutionary 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The PDK was so heavily marketed and popular that the vast majority of buyers opted for it making this model year and gen once again a rare find with a 6 speed manual transmission and on top of that all the sport options. I must have spent a year or so looking for this model before finding the right one and immediately flying over to purchase it (AZ car).

This one has All the RIGHT options - Sport Chrono Package, Sport Suspension, 19" Split Spoke Sport wheels, Heated/Ventilated leather seats, Bluetooth premium audio, and most important of all MANUAL transmission. Also on the spec sheet is the RARE factory option of Carbon Fiber steering wheel.

-All wheel drive with standard with a mechanical limited-slip differential, worried about driving a sports car in the rain? When I took it to work on a rainy day I looked forward to it. Sticks to the ground with zero worries.
-Iconic wide-body shared from the Turbo body came standard with the 4S models and unique to this trim was the styling and center light bar. Some would say this is the best 4S rear with the continuity of the rear middle tail light - I agree.
-Steering is tight and precise giving you just enough of the road feel while providing day to day comfort. This is the last year of rack and pinion steering and before they became electronically assisted. It was a big part of my decision process to purchase this generation. One I test drove it, I knew the "FEEL" was just right.
-Never raced, abused, or tracked. Mostly daily driven on my local drive to work on the same route that Jay Leno takes when I would commute to Burbank, CA.
-Always maintained well, parked in my garage, entire folder of records with probably about $20k of maintenance including last major service. Always performed from local Porsche specialized shops.
-Drives excellent, strong engine, tops works perfectly, gears click right in, manual transmission feels fabulous.
