The third generation of Alfa Romeo Spider was introduced in 1983. Referred to as the Series 3, the third generation Spider was offered in three main variants, the Spider Veloce, the Quadrifoglio Verde, and the Graduate. The North American variant, the Spider Graduate was named as an homage to the Spider's appearance in the 1967 film 'The Graduate,' and was the entry level Spider for the Series 3. The Quadrifoglio Verde was a special edition that featured numerous aesthetic changes, but was mechanically identical to the Spider Veloce. Built until 1990, the Series 3 was replaced by the Alfa Romeo Spider Series 4 starting in 1991.
