Audi R8 V8 - Spyder - Type 42 (2011 to 2015)

For the 2011 model year, Audi introduced the convertible version of their V8-powered Type 42 R8. Known as the V8 Spyder, these open top sports cars featured the same 4.2L V8 engine as in the R8 V8, but with an improved output of 428hp. Even though the Spyder featured more power from its engine, performance was slightly less than its hardtop sibling due to the additional weight involved in creating a convertible. The R8 V8 Spyder was only available with Quattro all wheel drive, but featured manual and automatic transmission options. Production of the Type 42 Audi R8 V8 Spyder continued until 2015, when Audi introduced the next generation Type 4S R8.
