Bentley Motors Limited, better known as Bentley, is a British automotive manufacturer founded in 1919. In Bentley&#39;s early years, the company became well known for a variety of racing exploits, including various Le Mans victories. This racing success not only helped grow the Bentley brand, but it created some of the most iconic cars built by the company. Over the years, many recreations of these famous racing cars have been built, including the Speed 8 and the Blue Train Special. The Bentley 4&frac12; Litre was introduced in 1927. Sold as a rolling chassis, the 4&frac12; Litre was bodied by a coachbuilder of the owner&#39;s choosing. In 1929, Bentley introduced a supercharged version of the 4&frac12; Litre known as the Blower Bentley, which was essentially the same chassis and engine as the 4&frac12;, but fitted with a supercharger. Sold as a rolling chassis, the 4 Litre was an attempt by Bentley to increase sales at a time when the company was struggling financially.
