The Chevrolet Lumina was a series of mid-size cars introduced for the 1990 model year. Over the course of its production, the Lumina was built in sedan and coupe body styles, although from 1995 onwards, the coupe version was known as the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This family of front wheel drive cars was offered with a range of inline four and V6 engines, and was produced in two generations (1990-1994, 1995-2001). Chevrolet used the Lumina to participate in stock car racing, including NASCAR. This racing affiliation spawned Signature Editions named after famous Chevrolet NASCAR drivers such as Dale Earnhardt. Production of the Chevrolet Lumina lasted until 2001.
