The fifth generation Chrysler New Yorker was introduced for the 1957 model year, and was offered as a convertible, two door hardtop, sedan, four door hardtop, and Town & Country station wagon. The fifth generation New Yorker saw a dramatic styling update that was heavily influenced by Virgil Exner. For 1957 and 1958, the New Yorker was powered by a 6.4L 'Hemi' V8, but for 1959 the model was fitted with a 6.8L 'Golden Lion' V8. Production of the fifth generation New Yorker continued until 1959, when it was replaced by the Sixth Generation Chrysler New Yorker.
