Citroën DS19 (1955 to 1968)

The Citroën DS19 was introduced in 1955 and was the first variant of the Citroën DS available. The DS19 was available as a sedan or station wagon (offered in different Break, Familiale, and Commerciale configurations). This new line of front wheel drive cars were powered by a 1.9L inline four engine, and was offered with disc brakes, as well as Citroën's revered hydropneumatic suspension. In 1965, a larger 2.0L inline four engine was fitted to the DS19, and the model became known as the DS19A, which would eventually be renamed the DS20. Henry Chapron, one of the most renowned French coach builders of that era, used the DS 19 as base for the Cabriolet design amongst other unique versions including Coupes, hard tops and the very luxurious versions named Majesty and Prestige. Production of the Citroën DS19 ended in 1968.
