Doble Series E (1922 to 1925)

The Series E was introduced by Doble in 1922. It was offered in several body styles built by external coachbuilders on the brand's chassis. It was powered by a Woolf compound steam engine directly coupled to the rear axle, eliminating the need for a gearbox or clutch, as the vehicle had direct-drive rear-wheel drive. The Series E could exceed 90mph and accelerate from 0 to 75 mph in around 10 seconds. Its technical refinement and performance made it a benchmark for applied steam engineering in the automotive industry. The Doble Series E was produced until 1925.
