Ferrari 400i - Automatic (1979 to 1985)

The Ferrari 400i - Automatic (a/k/a 400i A) was the front-engined, fuel injected V12 grand tourer, successor to the carbureted Ferrari 400. As with the 400, the 400i also featured a manual version known as the 400i GT. Available between 1979 and 1985, the 400i Automatic was powered by the same 4.8 liter V12 as its predecessor, but the carburetors were replaced by a Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system. Initially, the 400i was capable of 306 HP at 6500 rpm, but was later upgraded to produce 311 HP, along with the introduction of interior and exterior improvements. Drive was sent to the rear wheels via a GM THM400 3-speed automatic transmission. Ferrari produced a total of 1,305 samples of the Ferrari 400i, out of which 883 were automatic and the rest were manual. For the final iteration of the series, it evolved into the Ferrari 412 - Automatic in 1986.
