Ford Country Squire - 1st Gen (1949 to 1951)

For the 1949 model year, Ford introduced their new line of full size cars. As part of this line, Ford debuted their new line of wood paneled, two door station wagons. For the 1949 model year, and early 1950 models, these cars were offered in Custom and Custom Deluxe trim, but did not feature an independent name. It was not until early 1950 that the name Country Squire was applied to these cars. The first generation of Country Squire represented the top station wagon offering from Ford. These station wagons were available with a 3.7L inline six or 3.9L V8 engine, as well as manual or automatic transmission options. Production of the first generation Country Squire lasted until 1951, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Ford Country Squire.
