The Ford F-250 was a light-duty variant of the 3rd Gen Ford F-Series that debuted for the 1957 model year. The F-250, which was a 3/4-ton truck that was mainly built as a pickup, but was also offered as a panel or stake bed. Pickup trucks were built with short and long beds, which were available with sleek Styleside or fendered Flareside truck bed styling. For 1957, dual headlights marked the front of the F-250, but from 1958, dual headlights were equipped. The standard engine was a 139hp 223ci inline six, but an optional V8 was offered. For 1957 this V8 was a 272ci unit with 171hp, but from 1958 onwards, it was a 292ci unit with 172hp. Transmissions available were a standard 3 speed manual, or optional automatic gearboxes. Notably, the 3rd Gen F-Series saw the introduction of optional factory-equipped four wheel drive, which was offered alongside standard rear wheel drive. Production of the 3rd Gen Ford F-250 ended in 1960, when it was replaced by the 4th Gen Ford F-250.
