The second generation of Ford SVT Lighting as introduced for the 1999 model year. Much like its 9th Gen SVT Lightning predecessor, this updated performance variant was based on the Ford F-Series, and was developed by Ford's SVT (Special Vehicle Team) division. The Lightning was only offered on the standard cab, and was only available as a rear wheel drive truck. As well as upgrades and improvements to the drivetrain and suspension, the SVT Lightning received a supercharged 5.4L V8 engine producing 360hp (increased to 380hp in 2001). A total of 28,124 examples were built before the Ford SVT Lightning exited production.
