Ford LTD - 3rd Gen (1979 to 1982)

Ford introduced the third generation of LTD for the 1979 model year. The third generation LTD was the beginning of the model's downsizing, as well as the introduction of much more angular styling. Only three body styles were offered, two door sedan, four door sedan, and station wagon (Country Squire). Engine options were also fewer than previous generations, with only three V8 offerings (4.2L, 4.9L, 5.8L). The third generation was built until 1982, and was the last generation that saw the LTD offered as a full size model. The Fourth Generation LTD saw the model move into the mid-size segment.
