Ford introduced the second generation of Ranger for the 1993 model year. This updated generation saw a redesigned exterior, but many of the mechanical and drivetrain components remained largely unchanged. Like its predecessor, the second generation was offered in three wheelbase lengths (Standard, Long, Supercab), and was available with optional four wheel drive. Only three engine options were offered, a 2.3L inline four, a 3.0L V6, and a 4.0L V6. Production of the second generation Ranger lasted until 1997, when the Third Generation Ford Ranger was unveiled.
