The fourth generation of GMC Suburban was introduced for the 1955 model year. The fourth generation Suburban was offered as a V8 powered two door carryall, and was an upmarket version of the contemporary version of the Chevrolet Suburban. During this generation, GMC also used the Suburban name for a series of high end variants of the GMC Blue Chip Series. Production of the fourth generation Suburban ended in 1959 with the introduction of the Fifth Generation GMC Suburban.
