The General Motors Truck Company, better known as GMC, was formed in 1911. GMC is a division of General Motors, and throughout its life has focused on making a range of trucks and utility vehicles, most of which are nearly idential upmarket versions of Chevrolet products. Early GMC models such as the Model 15 and Model 16 helped establish the company's reputation, while the New Design, Blue Chip Series, and C/K cemented GMC as one of the most popular truck brands in America. Other notable models such as the Suburban, Sierra, and Jimmy have been built over the years, as well as the performance focused Syclone and Typhoon.
