The second evolution of Honda S2000 was introduced for the 2004 model year. Known as the AP2, this new series of cars featured numerous mechanical upgrades around the chassis as well as the drivetrain. The North American market received the AP2 with the Honda F22C1 naturally aspirated 2.2L inline 4 engine. Models in Europe, Japan, and other markets received the same mechanical updates, but with the AP1's F20C 2.0L engine, making only models fitted with the F22C1 actual AP2 cars. Alongside the Base Model, the only other variant of the S2000 AP2 released was the S2000 Club Racer, otherwise known as the S2000 CR. Honda discontinued the S2000 in late 2009.
