The fourth generation Imperial was introduced for the 1969 model year. The fourth generation Imperial saw the model drop the convertible variant, now offered as a two or four door hardtop, although a sedan was available in 1969. The only engine used for this generation was the 7.2L (440 cu in) 'Wedge' V8 unit. The LeBaron and Crown trims were initially available, but starting in 1971, only the LeBaron was offered. Production of the fourth generation Imperial continued until 1973, when it was replaced by the Fifth Generation Imperial.
