The Land Rover 90 NAS Soft Top (North American Spec) was a variant of the Land Rover Defender 90 (L316) available starting for the 1993 model year. Built to comply with the North American and Canadian regulations the Defender 90 NAS Soft Top was highly modified compared to its European sibling, including factory air conditioning. The Defender 90 NAS was launched as a convertible body style with its cool canvas and all-round roll cage, later on a removable fiber glass hard top variant was introduced. Powered by different petrol and diesel engines paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, for the 1997 - last year of production - the Defender 90 NAS was updated to a 4.0L V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission.
