Range Rover Classic - Series 1 (1969 to 1980)

The first generation Range Rover, known as the Series 1, was introduced in 1969. Spearheaded and designed by Charles Spencer King, the Range Rover was created to pair the off road abilites of Land Rover vehicles, with the refinement and luxury of a high end car. The Range Rover became an icon, and is often seen as the first luxury SUV. The Series 1 Range Rover was initially offered as a two door model, until 1981, when a four door version was introduced. The first generation Range Rover was only officially sold in the North American market starting in 1987. The Series 1 Range Rover was in production until 1996, and was replaced by the Range Rover Series 2.
