The Range Rover Classic Series III (1986–1995) represents the most mature evolution of the original Range Rover, combining timeless design with steadily increasing levels of luxury and refinement. During this period it was offered with the Rover V8 engines in 3.5, 3.9, and 4.2 liters, as well as the durable 2.5-liter turbo diesel (200Tdi and later 300Tdi, market-dependent), all paired with permanent four-wheel drive and a lockable center differential. Interior quality and technology improved throughout the years, culminating in the 1994–1995 “Soft Dash” models with modernized dashboards, airbags, optional ABS, and available air suspension, while retaining solid axles and exceptional off-road capability. Today, the Series III is widely regarded as the definitive and most desirable phase of the Range Rover Classic, blending true 4x4 engineering with understated British luxury in a way that set the template for all luxury SUVs that followed.
