Maserati Motorcycles (1953 to 1962)

While Maserati Motorcycles were sold under the Maserati name, and with the same Trident logo, the two companies operated in separate manners. After the death of Adolfo Orsi, who had owned a huge industrial corporation (whose assets included Maserati), parts of his empire were given to relatives. In the case of Ida Orsi, she was given 'Fabbrica Candele Accumulatori Maserati S.p.A.' This company manufactured a wide range of automotive products, but under Ida's stewardship, the company aquired Italmoto in 1953, and began to produce a variety of motorcycles such as the Tipo 125/T2 and the Tipo 160/T4. After a period of success, the introduction of affordable cars such as the Fiat 500 eventually forced the end of Maserati motorcycle production in 1962.
