Mercedes-Benz 230 - W110 (1966 to 1968)

The Mercedes-Benz 230 was the top variant offered for the W110 Second Series. Introduced for the 1966 model year, the 230 was offered from the factory in a four door sedan body style, although a coachbuilt station wagon was built by IMA and available through Mercedes dealerships. The 230 was the only W110 variant to feature a six cylinder engine, with Mercedes' M180 inline six providing power. This 2.3L dual-carbureted inline six generated 103hp when launched, but a technical update for 1967 increased output to 118hp. This power was sent to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual, or optional 4 speed automatic transmission. Production of the W110 Mercedes-Benz 230 ended in 1968, with a total of 40,258 examples built. The 230 model series would continue life in the next generation W114/W115 Mercedes E, as the W114 Mercedes-Benz 230.
