Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster - R197 (2012 to 2012)

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG was originally launched as a Gullwing Coupe, but for the 2012 model year, Mercedes introduced the SLS AMG Roadster. This open top version was fitted with a folding cloth top which necessitated additional structural reinforcements that added 88lbs to the Roadster's weight. Even with the additional weight, the Roadster still featured the same 563 hp 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 engine and seven speed automatic transmission as found in the coupe. The SLS AMG Roadster was only offered for the 2012 model year, as it was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Roadster for 2013.
