The MG Maestro came into production in March 1983, a year later than its sibling the Austin Maestro, both produced by British Leyland and later by Rover Group. The MG Maestro was built in hatchback and van body styles, which were powered by a range of inline-four engines throughout the course of its production, ranging from 80hp to 150hp in later evolutions. Although production of the MG Maestro ended in England in 1991, foreign market production continued until early 2000s.
