The Nash Metropolitan Series III was introduced for the 1956 model year. The Series III featured an update to the styling, with the chrome spears on the sides of the car being the most notable feature. As well as a few cosmetic and interior tweaks, the Series III was powered by a larger 1.5L inline four engine. In 1957, AMC decided to drop the Nash brand, leaving the Metropolitan as its own make. Although 'Nash' no longer featured on the car, it is common for people to still refer to its as the Nash Metropolitan. Production of the Series III Metropolitan ended in 1958, when the Series IV Metropolitan was introduced.
