Nissan Maxima - J30 - 3rd Gen (1989 to 1994)

The third generation of Nissan Maxima, also known as the J30, was introduced in 1989. It represented a crucial change in the evolution of the model, adopting front-wheel drive for the first time, which allowed for greater efficiency in the use of interior space and a driving experience more in line with market trends. It retained the 3L V6 engine (VG30E) in most versions, while sportier variants, such as the SE, offered the VG30DE with double overhead camshafts (DOHC) for improved performance. It was available with 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions, and its body style was exclusively a four-door sedan, abandoning the wagon version. This Maxima was characteristic for its balance of luxury, reliability and performance, and helped cement its reputation as a "4-door sports car," a label that Nissan would officially adopt in later years. The Nissan Maxima J30 was produced until 1994, before it was replaced by the A32.
