The Avanti R3 was a limited production, high performance variant of the Studebaker Avanti. The R3 name comes from the R3 engine, which was the most powerful and rarest of all production powerplants offered on the Avanti. This engine was a 5.0L supercharged V8 engine that produced 400hp. Only a total of nine examples of the Avanti with the R3 engine were built before production of the model ended in 1964.
