The First Generation of the Subaru WRX debuted for the 2015 model year. Also known as the VA generation, the 1st Gen WRX was built in an all wheel drive four door sedan body style. The WRX name had previously been used to designate sporty variants of the Subaru Impreza, but for 2015, the name became a standalone model. These cars were powered by a 2.0L or 2.5L flat four boxer engines, with manual or CVT transmission options. The Base Model came in a selection of trims, but the most notable variant was the legendary WRX STi. Subaru continued production of the VA WRX until 2021, when they replaced it with the next generation VB Subaru WRX.
