The Tigress model was introduced by Triumph Motorcycles in 1959. It was a scooter designed to offer a more refined and powerful alternative within the growing scooter market of the time. It was produced in two main versions: the Tigress 175, equipped with a 174cc single cylinder engine and the more prominent Tigress 250, with a 249cc parallel-twin engine, both with a four speed manual transmission. Experimental units of the 250 also existed in very limited numbers with an automatic transmission, making it a rarity for its time. Notably, this scooter was distinguished by its superior performance and handling closer to a light motorcycle, which set it apart from dominant Italian offerings such as Vespa or Lambretta. The Triumph Tigress was produced until 1964.
