About the model

When it was introduced in 1968, the BMW 2002 Base Model was only available as a coupe. Although other body styles would be offered, the coupe was the only body style built through the entirety of production. The 2002 was powered by BMW's M05 engine, which was a 2.0L inline four that had an output of 99hp that drove the rear wheels. Three transmission options were available during the course of production, a standard 4 speed manual, as well as a 3 speed automatic or 5 speed manual. The BMW 2002 was in production until 1976, when it was replaced by the BMW 3 Series.
