This1978 Ferrari 308 GTS is in very good condition. It is a driver and everything working as it should.
Anthracite Gray with Black Leather interior and Black soft top, its V8 is rated at 296 hp with 238 lb-ft of torque through a five-speed manual transmission. It's a H-patterned transmission with reverse straight forward and first straight back. Rated at 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed of 171 mph. Original MSRP was $117,400. The current owner purchased in 1982 privately in Beverly Hills, California. Books and paperwork indicate services were completed in Beverly Hills, California by the previous owner. The current owner moved back east and had services at Algar Ferrari in Rosemont, Pennsylvania as well as recent services at Scuderia Performante. 7/8/2021 Scuderia Performante replaced the steering rack and bushings and upgraded the AC. The timing belt service was completed at 84,519 along with a new alternator and oil and filter.
The first Ferrari road car to be emblazoned with the Cavallino Rampante Italian for Prancing Horsewas the 1947 Ferrari 125 S. A black prancing horse was used by World War I Italian pilot Francesco Baracca on the fuselage of his plane. He recorded 34 kills before being killed in 1918, becoming a national hero. In 1923, Enzo Ferrari met the mother and father of Baracca. Baraccas mother told Ferrari to paint the prancing horse on his cars as it would give him good luck. Ferrari did so and added the splash of yellow, the color of his birthplace, Modena.
Similarly, another racing icon- Porsche, has the horse on its logo taken from Stuttgart's Coat of Arms and represents the horse farms (a term for a horse-breeding farm, as stud farm in German is Stuttgart) on which the city was built.
