1981 GMC C1500

This 1981 GMC C1500 pickup was retrofitted with a 406ci Chevrolet V8 and a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission during refurbishment and modification work performed under previous ownership. It is finished in red and features 18” US Mags wheels, Monroe shocks, and a chrome-finished grille and bumpers as well as a dual exhaust system with electronically controlled cutouts. The interior is trimmed in tan and brown upholstery and has a wood-rimmed steering wheel, replacement instrumentation, Vintage Air climate control, an aftermarket sound system, and contoured bucket seats. This C1500 was acquired by the current owner in 2025 and is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Carfax report and a clean Kansas title.

The truck has been repainted in red, and it has a Wideside bed with a spray-in bedliner as well as a chrome-finished grille, bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The truck does not have side mirrors.

The 18” US Mags wheels are mounted with 245/45 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires up front and 285/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires out back. Stopping power is from front discs and rear drums. Monroe OESpectrum shocks have been installed.

The interior has been modified with brown and tan upholstery on the dash, center console, door panels, and contoured bucket seats. A touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay connectivity has been installed along with a RetroSound radio and aftermarket speakers. Additional features include Vintage Air climate control, manual windows, multi-color lighting, and three-point seatbelts.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts replacement instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The digital odometer indicates 1,500 miles. Total mileage is unknown.

The seller tells us that a 406ci Chevrolet V8 and a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission were installed during the build. A seller-provided list of engine specifications is shown in the gallery below.

The dual exhaust system features electronically controlled cutouts. The frame was blasted and powder-coated during the build.
