This particular 1991 300SL is shown in gorgeous Black Pearl Metallic over Dark Silver lower trim and has Alpaca Grey leather interior with burl wood trim. The car is equipped with the M104 3.0L DOHC 24V inline 6-cylinder producing 228 horsepower, combined with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car was sold new at Doxon Motors of Tacoma on August 22, 1990 and lived in Washington State its whole life. The second owner purchased the car as a Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz from Barrier Motors of Bellevue, WA on December 18, 1992 with 14,994 miles. The car would be passed onto their son in September of 2010 when it had approximately 30k miles. Over the years the car has been lovingly maintained and preserved with excellent service records going back to new. The car comes to us from the estate of the third owner who was the son of the 2nd owners. We have just given the car a fresh oil change, cabin filter, brake fluid flush, new fuel pumps, and installed 4 new tires, underhood insulation pad and gave the car full detailing. The car is ready to enjoy and comes with its removable hard top, folding windstop screen, original owner’s manual set, build sheet, service records, 2 remote keys, spare tire, jack, tools, clean CarFax report, and clear WA title.
Legendary Mercedes-Benz design chief Bruno Sacco has called the R129 SL his “most perfect car,” and the early models are a prime example of the design. With perfect boxy edges and a low amount of chrome, the R129 has aged gracefully. The SL has the presence of a muscular roadster and was built around the mindset of a cost-is-no-object era of Mercedes-Benz product development, when the cars were engineered to a higher standard and not to the bean counters. Though the SL is complex it’s also mechanically robust. Being a Mercedes-Benz, many OEM parts are still made, thanks the brand’s commitment to keeping its vintage models on the road via the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center. The SL is a highway mile eater with its smooth ride quality and enough space for a long road trip. It's fitted with clever hidden storage pockets behind the seats as well as in the door, and the spacious trunk leaves enough space for bags.
