What’s special about this listing

In late 2002 Sharon walked into Land Rover Darien and purchased a brand new 2003 Discovery II SE. Her husband was a car guy and did all the regular services (Oil changes, grease, brakes) the dealership did the other servicing.

She owned the truck through 2020 when she went through a divorce and sold off most of the cars.

We bought it in early 2021 and have owned it since.

I have put a new MagnaFlow 3" stainless manifold back exhaust on it, had a 60K mile short block dropped in when a bad cylinder liner popped a head gasket and buggered up that cylinder in the original block. The Rover suffered from the Land Rover 4.0/4.6L mystery tick (it only happens after it reaches full operating temperature and never before-sometimes not at all, sometimes quietly and sometimes, not so quietly) and even after new rocker rails and lifters and the 60K mile short block, it still has it intermittently.

You can hear it in the walk around video but later when driving, it's not there. New 02 sensors were installed, new tires (BFGoodrich All Terrain K02 255/55/R18), brake pads replaced, oil pump, water pump, 2 new coils and a coil relocation kit. In the 5 years we've had the Disco, we've put roughly 12,000 miles on it. Odometer shows 157,000 miles, with only maybe 61,000 on the short block.

3 other intermittent issues - it will throw a small emissions control leak code every now and then and the sunroofs open only when they want to. Sometimes both open when they're supposed to, other times the front will open and not the back and sometimes, the back will open and not the front .. and the Three Amigos show up every now and then, despite the ABS box being bypassed electronically. They are very sensitive to difference in tire dimension, so keeping them at exactly the recommended pressure is important.

The Disco always starts right up though, idles where it should, sounds awesome with the new exhaust and drives great. It is a very comfortable truck to drive.

The black paint looks great and aside from the hood which has some clear coat delamination happening in a few spots, there are only a couple small nicks in the paint. There is a small in the front bumper and the rear gate handle has a crack/hole in it.

The interior is in beautiful condition, a tiny amount of wear on the front driver bolster, the black leather all around in very good condition. The headliner has a couple droopy spots and the boots for the E-Brake and 4WD shifter are both worn.

This does not have the locking center diff.

Aside from the aforementioned sun roof issue, all electronics work as they should. Lights, cruise control, AC blows cold, heat blows hot, tilt/telescoping wheel, self darkening rear view mirror, 8 way power seats, power mirrors, power windows, hill descent, heated windshield, rear defrost, rear seat heat, heated seats, air bag lumbar support, F&R fog lights, all work correctly.

Underneath there is some usual corrosion on suspension bits and unfortunately, one small hole on the right rear frame rail underside. This just appeared after this winter. Won't be a problematic fix.

My wife has just purchased a new Toyota SUV so this one hits the chopping block and needs to find a new home.

This is a very handsome truck, we get compliments all the time, especially with the exhaust note. Runs and drives well, very comfortable for long drives .. and ticks a little...

Any questions, for several hundred additional photos and video, to schedule a time to inspect her, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest!
