The Austin Twelve was a series of cars introduced in 1921. The Twelve, which is also known as the 12/4, due to its 12 taxable horsepower, and the 4 cylinders of its engine. A wide range of coachbuilt body styles were offered on the Twelve, including tourer, saloon, and coupe. Over the course of production, the Twelve was available with a 1660cc or 1861cc inline four engine, which sent drive to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual transmission. In 1932, Austin introduced a new model known as the Light Twelve-Four, which featured the same engine as the Twelve, but was an entirely separate model. Production of the Austin Twelve lasted until 1939, although Austin would continue to use the Twelve name.
