The 740iL was a variant of the E32 BMW 7 Series. Introduced for the 1993 model year, the 740iL was offered on the lengthened 7 Series wheelbase, and was powered by BMW's M60B40 engine. This 4.0L V8 unit generated 282hp which was sent to the rear wheels via a 5 speed automatic transmission. BMW also offered the 740i, which was a standard wheelbase version of the 740iL. Production of the E32 740iL lasted until 1994, when it was replaced by the E38 BMW 740iL.
