BMW R11 (1929 to 1934)

The R11 Motorrad was introduced in 1929 by BMW as one of the brand's first large displacement models. It was equipped with a 745cc air-cooled, side-valve, twin cylinder boxer engine, paired to a 3 speed manual transmission and shaft drive. The R11 was offered in R11 (1929–1932) and R11/1 (1932–1934) versions, with progressive improvements in chassis and reliability. The R11 was designed for sidecar use, boasting a robust frame and excellent stability. It is remembered for introducing a level of comfort and refinement unusual in the 1930s, solidifying BMW's early reputation as a manufacturer of solid and durable motorcycles. The BMW R11 was produced until 1934.
