Delahaye was a French autmotive manufacturer that was established in 1894. Founded by &Eacute;mile Delahaye, his namesake company was known for creating automobiles that combined luxury and performance. Early models such as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/type-43/">Type 43</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/type-48/">Type 48</a> helped established the company&#39;s reputation, whereas highly regarded models such as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/135/">135</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/175/">175</a> cemented Delahaye as a world class automaker. In the post-WW2 years, the company struggled to revive its pre-war success, with late models such as the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/235/">235</a> unable to save the company from exiting the automotive world in 1954.

Delahaye 135

The Delahaye 135 was a series of luxury cars introduced in 1935. Known as the &#39;Coupe of the Alps&#39; (Coupe des Alpes), the 135 was one of Delahaye&#39;s most popular models, finding success in a range of motorsports endeavors. The 135 was offered in open and closed body styles, as well as a rolling chassis that would be bodied by coachbuilders. These rear wheel drive cars were powered by a 3.2L inline six engine that was available in a range of tunings, and produced between 95hp and 110hp. Delahaye also introduced the 138, which was a 135 variant that featured a longer chassis and a less powerful engine. Over the course of production, two notable performance-focused variants of the 135 were introduced, the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/135/135m/">135M</a> and the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/135/135ms/">135MS</a>. Although production was halted due to WW2, Delahaye resumed production of the 135 until 1954.

Introduced in 1936, the Delahaye 135MS was the top variant offered for the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/135/">Delahaye 135</a>. A performance focused variant, the 135MS featured a tuned version of the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/delahaye/135/135m/">135M</a>&#39;s 3.6L inline six engine, that generated up to 140hp depending on the number of carburetors. Delahaye also offered competition versions of the 135MS that featured a shortened chassis as well as an even more highly tuned engine. A wide range of coachbuilt body styles were available for the 135MS, which was in production until 1954.
