Dodge Viper - 2nd Gen (SR II) (1996 to 2002)

The second generation of Dodge Viper was introduced for the 1996 model year. Known as the SR II, the second generation Viper shared many components with the previous generation, including the powerful 8.0L V10 engine. The SR II generation was offered in two body styles: the RT/10 Roadster, and the GTS Coupe. The GTS Coupe was a new body style for the Viper and it featured almost 90% new components when compared to the RT/10. From 1998 onwards, the V10 powerplant saw a raft of improvements which boosted power from 415hp to 450hp. Dodge produced two special edition performance variants for the SR II. The first, the GT2 Commemorative Edition, was created to celebrate the Viper's Constructor and Driver titles in the FIA GT2 race series. These cars are often mistakenly called the 'GTS-R,' due to the name of the race car they pay tribute to (The Viper GTS-R race car). The second limited edition variant was the Viper American Club Racer (ACR), a raw, track focused version. Production of the second generation Dodge Viper lasted until 2002, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Viper (ZB I).
