In late 1982 the Ferrari 308 would evolve yet again into the 308 GTS Quattrovalvole (QV). A GTB Quattrovalvole (berlinetta) was also introduced. The main change from the 308 GTSi it succeeded were the four valves per cylinder—hence its name, quattrovalvole, literally "four valves" in Italian—which pushed output back up to 240 hp (179 kW) restoring some of the performance lost to emissions related components. In 1985 the Ferrari 328 was launched, which replaced the Quattrovalvole. Between 1982 and 1985 a total of 3,042 GTS QV's were produced, far more than the 748 GTB QV produced during that same period.
