Ford introduced the 11th generation of the F-Series for the 2004 model year on an all-new platform. The new platform starts off with a fully boxed in frame and introduced rear shocks to mount outside of the frame for decreased wheel hop and improved ride quality. This new body style kept the fully independent front suspension introduced in the last generation but added vacuum driven front wheel hubs for the 4 wheel drive versions. The F-150 was the main variant offered, available in various trims, with the XL, STX, FX4, Lariat, and Kings Ranch being amongst the most notable. A range of limited editions were also built, including the Harley-Davidson Edition, Boss 5.4, and Foose Edition. Noted Ford tuners Roush and Saleen also built trucks based on the 11th Gen. Production of the eleventh generation F-Series ended in 2008, and the model was replaced by the Twelfth Generation Ford F-Series.
