Ford F-100 - 5th Gen (1967 to 1972)

The fifth-generation Ford F-Series, which is known by enthusiasts as the "Bumpside," was introduced for the 1967 model year. The F-100 model series continued on with the same platform as the previous Fourth Generation F-Series but featured sharper styling and a larger cabin with comfort amenities. Since 1953 the F-100 was` the entry-level light-duty pickup offered by Ford. The front Twin I Beam front suspension was carried over from the previous generation, featuring a smoother ride than the F-250 and F-350, which rode on heavier duty suspension and drivetrain components. The F-100 was offered as a two-door standard cab with the option of a Styleside or Flareside bed in long or short bed configurations. Both beds could be optioned with a two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive platform. Different years saw different engines. Offered were two six-cylinder engines, a 240cid, 300cid, and four V8's, 302cid, 352cid, 360cid, and a 390cid. Transmissions offered were Ford's Crusie-O-Matic 3 speed automatic, three-speed, and, later, 4-speed, manual depending on engine and drivetrain. Three trim levels were available catering to different levels of comfort, including options like A/C. Unique trims to 1967 were Base, Custom Cab, and Ranger. In 1970 a mid-model refresh featured many updated details, most notably styling updates. Four trims were available, the entry-level Custom, Sport Custom, mid-range Ranger, or range-topping Ranger XLT. Unique versions catering to specific buyers were available, including the Camper Special, Explorer special, Contractor's Special, Farm and Ranch Special, and a Heavy-Duty Special. These options were an indication that Ford was combining comfort and utility. 1972 would be the last year for fifth-generation production, with the Sixth Generation F-Series replacing it.
