Ford Mustang Turbo GT - 3rd Gen (1983 to 1984)

The Ford Mustang Turbo GT was a model variant for the 3rd Generation Mustang between 1983 and 1984. The Turbo GT was supplied in hatch-back, convertible, and coupe (notchback) body styles. The engine provided in the car was the advanced fuel-injected "Pinto" (2.3L) inline four-cylinder with a turbocharger. The engine could produce 145hp with all power going through a T-5 manual transmission to the rear wheels. Also, in 1984, Ford’s Special Vehicle Operations department created their version of the Turbo GT, known as the Mustang SVO, with new handling and trim options and a 175hp engine output. The Turbo GT cost customers $250 more than a V8 GT, which made it a tough sell in showrooms. The base Turbo GT was sold until 1985, and the SVO Turbo would last until 1986.
