The third generation of GMC Sierra was introduced for the 2007 model year. The third generation Sierra was built on the GMT900 platform, and was an upmarket version of the Chevrolet Silverado. The Sierra was offered in light, medium, and heavy duty, as well as in regular, extended, and crew cab configurations. Engine options included a wide range of V8 engines, as well as one V6 option. Production of the regular and medium duty third generation Sierra lasted until 2013, while heavy duty production lasted until 2014. The third generation was replaced by the Fourth Generation GMC Sierra.
