The Lamborghini Jarama arrived on the market in 1970. As the follow up model to the Islero, the Jarama was a 2+2 grand tourer powered by Lamborghini's 4.0L V12. Styled by Bertone's Marcello Gandini, the Jarama was built on a shortened Espada chassis, which had been created to meet US automotive market standards. The Jarama saw produced in two guises, the Jarama GT, which was the initial launch configuration, and the Jarama S (also known as GTS) which featured more power, as well as interior and exterior changes and improvements.
