Mercedes-Benz 230E - W123 (1981 to 1985)

The Mercedes-Benz 230E was a variant of the W123 Sedan that was introduced for the 1981 model year. The 230E replaced the 230, and featured the introduction of fuel-injection. These cars were powered by Mercedes' M102.980 engine, which was a 2.3L inline four fitted with Bosch's K-Jetronic fuel-injection. This powerplant sent 136hp to the rear wheels via both manual and automatic transmission options. A total of 245,874 examples of the W123 Mercedes-Benz 230E were built before production ended in 1985, although the model series would continue life in the next generation as the W124 Mercedes-Benz 230E.
