Introduced in 1993, these performance station wagons were built by AMG, and featured a 3.6L version of Mercedes' M104 inline six engine. This tuned powerplant developed 272hp, which it sent to the rear wheels via a 4 speed automatic transmission. In addition to the engine, the E36 received upgraded suspension, as well as an AMG bodykit and wheels. Production of the E36 AMG wagon ended in 1996, with 171 examples built.
