Toyota Celica - 3rd Gen (1982 to 1985)

The third-generation Toyota Celica began in 1982 and provided customers with two body style options: liftback, and notchback, just as in previous generations. In 1984 the American Sunroof Company offered custom convertible conversions. The 1984 model year also brought another facelift for the model. Several options levels were offered, but only a few in North America. The U.S. inherited the ST, GT, and GTS, while Europe and other regions saw the XT, SV, and SX. Toyota delivered the cars across the globe with a variety of four-cylinder engines ranging from 1.5L to 2.4L. The U.S. would only get the 2.4L 22R, or 22RE when fuel injection became standard. In 1982, a Japanese-only rally version of the Celica was built called the GT-TS. This unique turbocharged machine was outfitted for Group B rally competitions. The fourth generation of the Celica began in 1986.
